What to check before lifting

Learn to identify the documents and components that need attention.

Sources checked 11 September 2026.

Start with identification

Find the model identification and matching manual. Compare installed attachments with the documentation. If equipment history is unknown or parts were replaced without confirmation, arrange inspection before use.

Recognise damage; do not improvise repairs

Wire rope, pulleys, mast sections, forks and locks form the mechanism. GUIL ULK documentation identifies separate safety systems. Report deformation, corrosion or a questionable lock to service; never bypass a protective device.

Organise the work

Assign a responsible person, an area protected from unauthorised access and a plan for a stoppage. The exact setup, levelling and lifting sequence comes from the model manual. This overview does not replace training.

Two more useful answers

Is an automatic lock enough verification?

No. It is one part of a system that must be sound and correctly used.

Can I modify a damaged part myself?

Do not improvise on structural or safety parts; contact authorised service.
