Plan the crossing, not just cable protection

Pedestrians, wheelchairs and service vehicles use a space differently.

Sources checked 11 September 2026.

Make crossings visible

Route cables to minimise crossings of pedestrian movement. Where a crossing cannot be avoided, select an appropriate crossing system and make the level change visible.

Accessibility covers the whole route

A low profile alone does not establish accessibility. Check slopes, width, joints and approach space against user needs and applicable venue requirements.

Check the real space

Mark the route’s start and end and inspect it after installation. Closed lids, even support and clear exits matter more than a tidy on-screen plan.

Two more useful answers

Are all low-profile ramps accessible?

No. The complete geometry and crossing conditions need assessment.

Can cables simply be taped down?

Tape does not replace suitable mechanical protection where it is needed.
