Truss: span, supports and loads

A single capacity figure cannot describe an entire structure.

Sources checked 11 September 2026.

Read the correct table

Manufacturer tables distinguish span, support arrangement and load distribution. A uniformly distributed load (UDL) differs from a load at mid-span. Do not compare kg/m and kg as if they were the same quantity.

Connections belong to the system

Connectors, corners, suspension and attachment positions belong to the structure. A straight-beam table is not automatically a portal or roof calculation. Prolyte’s BlackBook explains principles; it is not a load table for GUIL products.

Prepare the engineering inputs

Record every load with its position, structure mass, height, supports and outdoor conditions. Wind, cladding and non-standard connections require specific assessment. The configurator prepares geometry, not structural approval.

Two more useful answers

Can I double the span with the same load?

Do not assume proportionality. Use the applicable table or calculation.

Does small deflection prove safety?

No. Appearance does not replace verification of allowable stresses and all connections.
