Straight or curved choir risers

A layout starts with sightlines to the conductor and ends with usable access.

Sources checked 11 September 2026.

Row geometry

A straight layout follows a rectangular room easily. A curved layout turns the outer singers towards the conductor. GUIL distinguishes straight GR-2 and trapezoidal GRT-2 modules; a suitable combination depends on the actual modules.

People need room

Singer count is not enough. Record whether performers stand or sit, whether music stands are used and how people enter each row. Do not estimate capacity from riser width alone.

Check the whole route

Include the conductor, instruments, side aisles and access for people with reduced mobility. Before ordering, try a scale layout or mark its footprint on the floor.

Two more useful answers

Can the layout be customised?

GUIL offers custom formats; the final arrangement needs manufacturer confirmation.

Can the same risers accommodate chairs?

Check row depth, edge protection and the approved use of the specific configuration.
